Before
the major work begins, we wanted to see what the existing MA10 engine
and modifications produced on the rolling road. The MA10 is a 1.0 engine
with 50BHP.
The modifications include some Magnecor 85mm HT leads, K&N element
filter, a 4-1 outlet manifold and a custom made 3" backbox, all
fitted to an engine which has done 115,000 miles.
Several people predicted a loss in horsepower due to the age & mileage,
but I'm pleased to reveal that gains were made.
The rolling road results showed some increased over the stock BHP &
Torque figures, with the max power of 61.1HP being produced at 6200rpm
and torque from 2000rpm to 3500rpm.
The power remained above stock BHP from 4500rpm until the test ended at
7200rpm. The car's standard redline, which is not limited, is 6000rpm on
the 1.0.
Now the major work can continue and I hope the next time the car is on a
rolling road, we'll be seeing horsepower in the 150BHP region, after the
transplant is completed.
